Galena Rotary Library Grant
Help us meet our goal!
Rotary International has challenged each club to donate one book per Rotarian to a local library. Our club has decided to donate $1,000 to the Elizabeth Library, which will allow them to purchase the books they need.
With your help, Rotary Club of Galena can reach this goal. If each Rotarian gives $25, we will easily meet our goal, and with community involvement, we can exceed it!
Every donation makes a difference.
Workshop Van
The Galena Rotary Club donated $10,000 to The Workshop to help purchase a new accessible van.

According to Laura Moyer, Creative Director for The Workshop, “The van holds up to 10 passengers. It also has a wheelchair lift and can accommodate up to 2 individuals in wheelchairs. The main purpose of this van is to allow all individuals to participate in community outings. We currently offer small outings to lunch or coffee here in Galena but this van will allow us to go further with more individuals.
We have developed a program called Adventure for All where we research several local attractions and give all the individuals a choice between 6 trips. Our first round of trips included the Niabi Zoo, the Grotto in Dickeyville, the Arboretum in Dubuque, fishing, manicures and a trip to the “M” in Platteville and thrift store shopping. Once all these trips are taken we will offer another 6 trips.”
Parade Duty
Members of the Galena Rotary assisted the Chamber of Commerce and local law enforcement in helping maintain crowd control during the annual Halloween Parade in Galena.
Galena’s Halloween Parade draws tens of thousands of spectators from all over. Spectacular floats entered by local businesses, fire trucks, and balloon baskets make the parade a visual spectacle, while the children collect baskets full of candy.
The total amount of candy given away at the parade is not known, but it is measured in tons. Flatbed trailers lined with storage containers overflowing with candy accompanied many of the floats.
