Graves of Elizabeth came out on top as the Galena Rotary Club looked for
worthy non-Rotary recipients for its quarterly “Service Above Self”
Citizen’s Award. Rotarian Lynn Gaber, who heads up the award search,
reminds that winners are chosen for the extent and positive impact of their volunteer services to their community or Jo Daviess County. Former owners of the Elizabeth Garage, Jeanette and Jack – now “retired” – have been instrumental in helping people in need, local schools and youth, for years and years. The Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce, Apple River Fort Foundation, local food bank – all have benefited from the Graves’ dedication to community service. In addition to an engraved plaque, the Graves received complimentary dinner for two at Benjamin’s, Galena, and a commemorative bottle of wine from the Galena Cellars Winery. |
